Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said the government aims to build a humane state where no one is denied justice due to financial hardship.
He made the remarks on Tuesday (April 28) at an event marking Legal Aid Day in the capital. He said the country is moving on a democratic path after the end of authoritarian rule.
The Prime Minister said the government has adopted specific plans to ensure legal aid for those who cannot afford it.
“Justice should not remain in law books—it must be reflected in people’s lives,” he said.
He added that justice must go beyond mechanical application of laws and instead reflect a moral commitment to protect dignity and rights. As justice is a constitutional right, the government will provide all necessary legal support to ensure access for all citizens.
He also emphasized that delayed justice is effectively denied justice, noting that steps have been taken to resolve disputes before they escalate into formal cases.
