Acclaimed actress Jaya Ahsan is set to return to the big screen in West Bengal on February 6 with the theatrical release of OCD, a psychological drama directed by Soukarya Ghoshal.Coming off a prolific 2025 with roles in films like Tandav and Dear Maa, Ahsan takes on one of her most intense characters yet: Shweta, a successful doctor whose organized exterior masks a life-altering childhood trauma.
A Story of Trauma and Justice The film explores how unresolved childhood wounds can evolve into behavioral disorders and, eventually, a path toward violence. In the film, Shweta’s past resurfaces, pushing her to take extreme measures that serve as a manifestation of her long-suppressed pain. "‘OCD’ is more than a movie," Ahsan said. "It is a confrontation with neglected childhood suffering and the terrible consequences of society’s silence. I believe it will resonate with all audiences." Director Soukarya Ghoshal, who previously worked with Ahsan on Bhoot Pari, describes the film as a "protest" against the systemic failure to protect children. "I have seen countless children who remain silent about abuse due to fear or lack of family support," Ghoshal said. "Our society still questions the victim rather than the perpetrator. This film gives voice to that unfinished cry."
From Festival Circuit to Theaters Though filming began in 2021 and the movie premiered at the Kolkata International Film Festival in 2022, OCD is only now reaching general audiences after a successful run on the international festival circuit. Ahsan recently shared the film's poster on social media, featuring a minimalist aesthetic that emphasizes the character's internal weight rather than "star-power" glamour. Her caption, "Wash away all the filth and dirt from the corners of your mind," has already sparked significant interest among fans. The film features a strong supporting cast, including Kaushik Sen, Ansuya Majumdar, and Kaninika Banerjee.
