Actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra has officially addressed the allegations surrounding a 60-crore Rupees criminal breach of trust case involving the defunct company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd. Through a personal statement, she dismissed the claims as a "baseless attempt" to tarnish her reputation, clarifying that her involvement with the firm was strictly in a non-executive capacity.
She maintained she had no role in the company’s finances, operations, or decision-making processes and held no signing authority.
Contrary to the allegations of fraud, Shetty revealed that her family had actually loaned nearly 20 crore Rupees to the company, which remains unpaid. She also noted that her own professional endorsement fees are still outstanding.
The actor criticized the "mischievous" attempt to link her to the case after a nine-year delay, calling it legally unsustainable.
Invoking the Bhagavad Gita to speak against injustice, she confirmed that a quashing petition has been filed before the Bombay High Court, expressing full faith in the Indian judiciary.
The case, initiated by businessman Deepak Kothari, is currently being probed by the Mumbai Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW) under charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust.
