


A press conference was held on the upcoming “13th National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026” to be held on 12 February 2026 and the election responsibilities and operational activities assigned by the Election Commission and the Ministry of Home Affairs in the parliamentary areas of the districts/upazilas of the units under the Comilla sector under the Sarail Region.
At a press conference at 11 am on January 26 (Monday), Feni 4 BGB Commander Lt. Col. Mosharraf, BGBM, G+ said that the BGB will perform its duties alone (without the army) in 3 bordering upazilas of Feni district to maintain the overall security situation and law and order in 34 parliamentary constituencies in 53 upazilas of 6 districts (Brahmanbaria, Comilla, Chandpur, Noakhali, Lakshmipur and Feni) under the responsibility of the battalions under the Comilla sector. In addition, it will perform its electoral duties as a "mobile striking force" in 9 other bordering upazilas, including 41 other upazilas, in coordination with the Bangladesh Army and other law and order forces.
On the occasion of the Thirteenth National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026, Feni Battalion (4 BGB) under BGB Comilla Sector - 19 Upazilas (12 Parliamentary Constituencies); Comilla Battalion (10 BGB) - 22 Upazilas (14 Parliamentary Constituencies); Sarail Battalion (25 BGB) - 05 Upazilas (03 Parliamentary Constituencies) and Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB) - 7 Upazilas (05 Parliamentary Constituencies) have been deployed in 6 districts from 31 January 2026 to 1 February 2026 as per the instructions of the BGB Headquarters to perform electoral duties. The deployed BGB members will stay in temporary base camps established with the help of local district/upazila administration and will work as a "mobile striking force" to maintain overall law and order in the upcoming elections.
All members of Border Guard Bangladesh are determined to maintain overall law and order during the election period in order to ensure full participation/participation of the people, exercise of voting rights, and a peaceful and festive election environment in the upcoming “Thirteenth National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026” organized by the interim government and the Election Commission in the midst of the country's fatigue. Unlike the past, political activities with different ideologies, intense competition between heavyweight candidates, and self-interested, evil forces and saboteurs cannot destroy the electoral level playing/festive environment, so that no one can destroy it. We expect your kind cooperation to provide us with overall support through information/data provided by the BGB during the performance of duties.
During the election period, 61 BOPs, 3 ICPs and 7 temporary posts will be set up in the 327.30 km long responsible border area of Comilla sector. Campaign activities will continue to prevent smuggling of arms, ammunition, narcotics and other goods through camps/posts and to prevent illegal infiltration. So that people with different ideologies, armed men and evil forces/potential saboteurs cannot enter Bangladesh and create a chaotic environment and disrupt the election activities.
To ensure the security of the long border area in the Comilla sector, the BGB has achieved significant success in the anti-smuggling and border crime operation from November 1, 2025 to January 25, 2026. The value of the seized smuggled goods is 94,41,04,965 taka.
The value of the seized narcotics: 4,05,04,175 taka and the total value of the seizure: 98,46,09,140 taka.
Cases filed: More than 1,800 and 38 people arrested.
The success of this campaign will be widely publicized in various print and electronic media through extensive publicity/advertisement. The image of BGB has been bright and the morale of BGB members has been increased and the performance of duties with professionalism has been accelerated.
On January 13, 2026, at 2000 hours, Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB) responsible for Khadla BOP Border Pillar 2049/7-S, 10 yards inside Bangladesh, at a place called Putia, 3 (three) accused Md. Saidur Rahman (24), Shafiul Jannat Prakash Siam (19) and Shaharia Nazim Joy (19), who were on warrants in a murder case before fleeing from Bangladesh to India, were arrested.
According to Burichang Police Station sources, the mentioned accused are the murderers of Fahima Akhter Akh (23), daughter of deceased Jahangir Alam of Jagatpur (Nagarbari) village of Burichang Police Station in Comilla district. Case No. 09 (Section-143/447/448/323/324/326/307/302/114/506/34 Penal Code) Dated 12 January 2026. After being detained by the BGB, the accused have been handed over to the Burichang Police Station of Comilla district for legal action.
