5 Businesses Fined Tk 18K in Nalchiti Consumer Drive

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) fined five businesses a total of Tk 18,000 during a market monitoring drive at Nachanmahal Bazar in Nalchiti upazila Jhalakathi on Monday morning.

Led by Safia Sultana Assistant Director of the DNCRP Jhalakathi District Office the 11:00 am drive targeted market irregularities primarily the sale of expired medicines and the failure to display mandatory price lists.

During the operation Ma Medical Hall was fined Tk 12,000 while Biswas Medical Hall and Shah Alam Store were fined Tk 1,000 each for storing and selling expired drugs. Additionally Live Bakery and Rakib Store faced fines of Tk 3,000 and Tk 1,000 respectively for not displaying product price boards to customers.

"This drive aims to protect consumer rights ensure product safety and encourage lawful business practices" said Safia Sultana adding that regular market surveillance will continue in the public interest.

Local law enforcement agencies assisted the DNCRP team during the campaign.
