


A 20-year-old woman died early Friday after falling from the seventh floor of the new building at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
The deceased identified as Riya was a homemaker from Bhadurdangi village in Pabna Sadar. She had been admitted to Ward 802 five days prior to treat various physical ailments, including mouth sores. Following the fall in the early hours of Friday, she was urgently taken to the emergency department where attending doctors pronounced her dead at approximately 5:15 am.
Her father Latif Mallik reported that Riya had been exhibiting unusual behavior and struggling with acute mental health issues over the past ten days. He noted that she had been experiencing severe emotional distress regarding her inability to conceive a child since marrying a Bangladeshi expatriate residing in Singapore.
Inspector Md Faruk the in-charge of the DMCH police camp confirmed the tragic incident and stated that the victim's body is currently being held at the hospital morgue.
