July Martyrs’ Day’ was observed in Tangail on Thursday (July 16) with solemn tributes, prayers, and a clear government commitment to support the victims of the July Movement.

The day’s programs began with officials laying wreaths and offering prayers at the July memorial near the Tangail District Headquarters helipad.

Following the tribute, a discussion was held at the District Administrator's conference room, presided over by Tangail Deputy Administrator Sharifa Haque. State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku MP attended as the chief guest, using the platform to outline the government’s welfare and justice initiatives.

"The nation will forever remember the sacrifices of the martyrs and the contributions of the injured," Minister Tuku stated. He emphasized that the government is actively standing by the victims' families, pledging adequate financial assistance and employment opportunities for their relatives.

Highlighting the need for accountability, the Minister added, "It is our moral responsibility to complete the ongoing trials of the July Movement. We will ensure charge sheets in the murder cases are filed quickly." He reiterated his dedication to building a discrimination-free Bangladesh, paying deep respect to those who shed their blood for democracy.

The memorial event brought together families of the July martyrs and the injured, alongside Additional Deputy Administrator Sanjay Kumar Mahant, Superintendent of Police Md. Shamsul Alam Sarkar, Civil Surgeon Dr. Farazi Muhammad Mahbubul Alam Manju, local political figures, teachers, journalists, and civil society representatives.
