Four pharmacies in Tangail city’s General Hospital Road area were fined a total of Tk 26,000 on Sunday for selling illegal and expired medications.

A joint task force, led by an Executive Magistrate and supported by the Tangail Drug Administration and local police, conducted the raid on the afternoon of July 19.

Authorities penalized the pharmacies in four separate cases under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. The violations included selling antibiotics without a prescription, as well as stocking fake, adulterated, unregistered, expired, and physician-sample medicines.

Tahmid Jamil, Superintendent of the Tangail District Drug Administration, confirmed the penalties. Reaffirming the department's commitment to public safety, he stated that regular drives against counterfeit and illegal drugs will continue across the district.
