A 12-foot python trapped in a protective net around farmland in Mirsarai, Chittagong, was successfully rescued and returned to the wild.
On Saturday afternoon (June 20), locals in the post office area of Wahedpur Union spotted the trapped snake and quickly alerted the Wildlife and Snake Rescue Team Bangladesh. The team promptly arrived and safely freed the uninjured 15-kilogram python.
In coordination with the Forest Department, the rescue team released the snake deep into the forest near Bawachhara Lake, within Baroiyadhala National Park. Naimul Islam Niloy, a member of the rescue team, confirmed the safe capture and relocation.
Barotakia Beat Officer Arun Roy noted that during the rainy season, it is common for wildlife to leave flooded forest areas and enter local communities in search of food. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and contact rescue authorities immediately if they encounter wildlife, rather than attempting to capture or harm the animals themselves.
