The Faridpur district administration marked Eid-ul-Azha by sharing holiday festivities with underprivileged and orphaned children residing in state-run welfare facilities.
Immediately after completing his morning Eid prayers, Faridpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Mazharul Islam visited the Government Children’s Family (Sarkari Shishu Paribar) home, which is managed by the Department of Social Services.
During his visit, the Deputy Commissioner spent time with the resident teenagers, inquired about their well-being, and personally distributed crisp, new currency notes as Salami (traditional Eid cash greetings) to more than 100 children. The surprise gesture brought visible joy to the residents, who rarely get to experience traditional family holiday customs.
"The joy of Eid belongs to everyone. This is a small effort by the district administration to ensure that the underprivileged and orphaned children of our society are not left out of the celebrations."— Md. Mazharul Islam, Faridpur Deputy Commissioner said.
The Deputy Commissioner also urged the affluent segments of society to look out for vulnerable citizens. "I appeal to the wealthy individuals of this district to extend a helping hand to the helpless and disadvantaged on this special day. Through such compassion, we can bring genuine happiness to those who need it most," he added.
Following his visit to the children's facility, the DC toured a local state-run old age home, a safe home, and a protection center for marginalized individuals to exchange Eid greetings and review their holiday arrangements.
Senior officials, including Government Children’s Family Officer Panu Molla, and District Social Services Department representatives Mazharul Islam and Sheikh Md. Sojauddin Rashed, accompanied the Deputy Commissioner throughout the visits.
