A 12-year-old boy died after being struck by lightning while playing football in the rain in Lalmohan upazila of Bhola on Friday (May 22) afternoon.

The deceased, Md. Yamin, was the son of Nizam Uddin from the Syedabad area under the upazila's Lord Hardinge Union.

According to police and local residents, Yamin was playing football with his friends in a field near his home around 4:00 pm when a sudden thunderstorm began. He was critically injured when a lightning bolt struck just a few feet away from him.

Locals immediately rescued the boy and rushed him to the Lalmohan Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead upon arrival.
