Dr. Mahmudul Haque, Satkhira District Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer and a potential candidate for the Upazila Chairman post, shared his vision for a modern Tala upazila during an exchange of views with local journalists on Thursday.
Speaking as the chief guest at the Tala Press Club, Dr. Haque emphasized the importance of ethics, morality, and human rights in public service. "When people abandon morality, they lose their humanity. All action plans must be implemented through mutual discussion," he stated.
Outlining his political philosophy, he explained that seeking power for its own sake contradicts his values. "No one from Jamaat-e-Islami runs for office on their own initiative; we only contest when the organization assigns us the responsibility," he added.
Despite acknowledging a lack of financial resources for a large-scale campaign, Dr. Haque expressed confidence in his deep-rooted connection with the local community, noting that his grassroots ties would outweigh the need for traditional campaign posters.
He pledged to serve everyone equally, regardless of religion, caste, or ideology. "If my party gives me the responsibility and I am elected, I will collaborate with the current Member of Parliament to develop Tala into a modern upazila," he promised.
The event was chaired by Tala Press Club President Selim Haider and moderated by Senior Vice President Gazi Zahidur Rahman. General Secretary Kamruzzaman Mithu and Mir Zillur Rahman also addressed the gathering alongside other local media personnel.
Following the discussion, Satkhira-1 MP Principal Md. Izzat Ullah offered mangoes to the journalists and guests in attendance.
