


Abdus Sattar (75), a frontline freedom fighter during the 1971 Liberation War, was buried with national honours in Porsha area of Naogaon. He is the son of the late Abdus Samad of Bangalpara village of Nitpur in the upazila.
According to family sources, he died at his residence at 4:45 am on Monday due to asthma. At the time of his death, he left behind many appreciative people including his wife, two daughters, grandchildren. Later, after the Zohar prayers on Tuesday, he was given national honours and after the funeral prayers, he was buried at the Nitpur Central Big Graveyard.
At that time, Upazila Nirbahi Officer-in-Charge and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nabila Ferdous, Thana Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Shah Alam, former freedom fighter commander Yunus Ali, freedom fighter Taijul Islam, along with freedom fighters and political leaders were present.
On the other hand, leaders of various political parties in the upazila expressed their condolences on his death.
