


The convoy of AK Azad, former MP for Faridpur-3 (Sadar) and former President of FBCCI, was attacked by local Jubo Dal activists during his public meeting preparations in the Pamanandapur Bazar area of Krishna Nagar Union on Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 4:45 PM as Azad was preparing to address a gathering. Eyewitnesses report that a procession led by local Jubo Dal leaders, including Lutfar Rahman and Nannu Mollah, arrived at the scene, chanting slogans against Azad, calling him an "Awami League's friend" and shouting in favor of local BNP aspirant Nayab Yusuf.
A confrontation erupted between the two sides. Despite a police presence, as Azad's 15-vehicle convoy attempted to leave the area under police escort around 5:15 PM, the last two vehicles were reportedly struck with sugarcane, resulting in vandalized windows. No major casualties were reported due to timely police intervention, which ensured Azad's safe departure.
AK Azad condemned the attack as unprecedented political violence, laying the blame on supporters of Nayab Yusuf. He announced his intention to file a case over the incident.Nayab Yusuf, a central Women's Party joint secretary seeking a BNP nomination, vehemently denied any involvement and suggested the presence of Awami League leaders in Azad’s convoy may have provoked public anger.
Jubo Dal General Secretary Jahangir Hossain denied the involvement of his organization, stating there is no active Jubo Dal committee in that specific union.Faridpur Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Asaduzzaman confirmed that a confrontation arose when both sides attempted to hold rallies simultaneously, adding that police handled the situation effectively to secure Azad's exit.
Later that evening, the District Chhatra Dal staged a torch procession in the city, raising slogans against "Awami League brokers" and calling for unity. The procession began at Government Rajendra College and circled the main roads before concluding. Mofizur Rahman Shipon Faridpur.
