


Joint forces arrested two suspected illegal arms traders during a special operation in Lakshmipur’s Chandraganj area early Wednesday. A significant cache of weapons, including a foreign pistol and local firearms, was seized during the raid.
The arrestees have been identified as Md. Imran (23) of Deopara village and Md. Sajib (24) of Aleyapur union.
Acting on a tip-off, a team comprising the Army, RAB, and Police conducted the raid around 1:00 AM in the Aleyapur border area. The recovery included one foreign pistol, 11 rounds of ammunition, two magazines, four LGs (local guns), 26 shotgun shells, 53 fireworks, two crude bombs (cocktails), and other sharp domestic weapons.
Captain Arman Habib Apu confirmed the arrests during a press briefing, noting that Imran is a wanted suspect in multiple cases, including murder and arms charges. The operation was led by Army Lieutenant Abid Karim Shahriar.
The suspects and the seized evidence have been handed over to Chandraganj Police Station for further legal action.
