Shahadat Ali Mandal alias Sahajul Islam, General Secretary of Phulbari Municipality BNP in Dinajpur and Joint General Secretary of Dinajpur District BNP, has been expelled from BNP on charges of violating party discipline and engaging in anti-organizational activities.
The decision to expel was announced in a press release signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday (February 3). It stated that he has been expelled from all party posts, including primary membership, for engaging in activities that are against party discipline.
Fulbari Upazila BNP Office Secretary Mizanur Rahman Mintu confirmed the matter.
Party sources said that Shahadat Ali Sahajul had been involved in various anti-organizational activities by defying party decisions for a long time. The party decided to expel him for taking a stand against the last BNP candidate and party symbol, the paddy sheaf.
However, denying the allegations of anti-organization, Shahadat Ali Shahajul said, “No one asked me to work for the paddy sheaf. That is why I took a stand for the rebel candidate. I did not do any anti-organization activities.”
