A newborn was found abandoned at the Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex on Monday afternoon after an unidentified woman fled the premises, leaving the child with a fellow patient.

The incident occurred around 12:00 PM in the hospital’s outpatient department. Mishti Khatun, a resident of Joynagar who was at the hospital for treatment, reported that a woman handed her the infant, claiming she needed to use the restroom. When the woman failed to return after an hour, Mishti became suspicious.

Upon checking the infant's clothing, a note was discovered on white paper. It read: "Please take care of this child. The baby was born on January 1."

Mishti Khatun immediately alerted the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, Dr. Ali Ehsan. "I was there with my husband for a check-up when the woman asked me to hold the baby," Mishti explained. "She never came back."

Dr. Ali Ehsan confirmed that a mobile number was written on the note. "We have informed the local administration and police. We are currently trying to reach the number provided to identify the parents and understand the circumstances," the doctor stated. The infant is currently under medical observation and is in stable condition.
