The Home Ministry has ordered not to hold any gatherings or events, including Ijtema, at the Tongi Bishwa Ijtema Maidan before the 13th National Assembly elections and referendum.
A letter was sent to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) from the Home Ministry on Tuesday (December 30) with this instruction.
Earlier, Maulana Muhammad Zubair (Khatib and Principal of Madrasa Ulumi Dinia Malwali Mosque and member of Ahl-e-Sura of Tabligh Jamaat), who leads a section of the Tabligh Jamaat, had requested to hold Khuruj Joor and Ijtema at the Ijtema ground.
Referring to their request, the Home Ministry's letter said that a request was made to organize Khuruj Joor and 'Bishwa Ijtema-2026' at the Tongi Bishwa Ijtema Maidan on January 2-4 and January 22-24. However, in order to conduct the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum in a fair, peaceful and smooth manner, the Inspector General of Police has been requested to take necessary measures not to organize any kind of gathering or event at the ground, including the Khuruj Jor and Bishwa Ijtema, during the pre-election period as per the requested schedule.
The letter further states that it is necessary to keep the Tongi Ijtema Maidan free from gatherings during the election period, keeping in mind the overall law and order situation, public security and administrative preparations surrounding this nationally important election and referendum.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed all relevant authorities, including the police, to take necessary steps in this regard and ensure overall cooperation.
