The traditional launch ghat of Nalchiti Upazila has been officially renamed as the ‘Shaheed Sharif Osman Bin Hadi Launch Ghat’ to honor the memory of the late student leader and anti-hegemony activist.

Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, who served as a spokesperson for the Inqilab Mancha and was a prominent figure in recent mass movements, was originally from this region. The renaming initiative aims to preserve his legacy at a site deeply connected to his childhood and personal history.

The decision has resonated deeply with the local community in Jhalokati. Residents and activists expressed that the new name serves as a symbol of respect for his sacrifice and his commitment to the rights of the people.

According to local reports, the move has been met with emotional tributes from the general public, who view the ghat as a landmark of pride for the homeland.
