Police have launched a murder investigation after the stabbed bodies of a mother and her teenage daughter were discovered inside their home on Shahjahan Road in the Mohammadpur area of Dhaka on Monday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Laila, 48, and her 15-year-old daughter, Nafisa. The gruesome scene was found opposite the Residential College.

The alarm was raised by Laila's husband, Azizur Rahman, a teacher at a school in Uttara, who reportedly returned home around 10:30 am to find the bodies.

Ibne Mizan, Deputy Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Tejgaon Division, confirmed the discovery of the two bodies and stated that police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. Further details on the identities and potential motives are yet to be released as the initial investigation continues.
