An unidentified man was killed after being struck by a train near the Sholashahar Railway Crossing in Chattogram city on Saturday afternoon.
The accident occurred at around 1pm on September 26.
Asim Dhar, in-charge of Sholashahar Station under Chattogram Railway Police Station, said preliminary information indicated that the man was walking along the railway tracks when the Tourist Express train approached from behind.
He became confused as the train came closer and was subsequently struck by the train, dying at the scene, the police official said.
The identity of the deceased could not be immediately established. He was estimated to be around 50 years old and was believed to have been living around Sholashahar Station without a fixed residence.
Police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Chattogram Medical College Hospital for autopsy, Asim Dhar said.
Earlier on September 11, two people, including a child, were killed after being struck by a train in the same area. The latest death, occurring only days later, has again raised concerns about movement on the railway tracks and safety in the area.
