The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced a price drop for gold and silver across the local market. The Standing Committee on Price Rating and Price Monitoring made the decision during a 9 AM meeting on Saturday with new rates taking effect from 10 AM.
Under the revised structure, the price of the highest quality 22-carat gold (11.664 grams/bhori) including VAT has dropped by Tk.1,691 to Tk.2,32,930.
The revised rates per bhori for other gold categories are 21-carat gold: Tk.2,22,491, 18-carat gold: Tk.1,91,056 and Traditional method gold: Tk.1,56,064.
Silver prices were adjusted downward as well. Per bhori rates for silver, including VAT, are now set at 22-carat silver: Tk.4,841 , 21-carat silver: Tk.4,607, 18-carat silver: Tk.3,966 and Traditional method silver: Tk.3,033 .
BAJUS cited adjustments in pure gold and silver prices in the local bullion market as the reason for the price reduction. Buyers must pay applicable making charges with statutory VAT and stone costs separately at retail jewellers.
