The Pabna district administration in collaboration with Pabna Municipality conducted a comprehensive mosquito eradication and cleanliness drive on Saturday morning to combat dengue and destroy Aedes mosquito breeding sites.
The operation took place across Ward No. 8 of the municipality, focusing on key areas including Jamia Ashrafia Madrasa and Masum Bazar. Teams cleared stagnant water, removed accumulated garbage, sprayed larvicide and distributed informational leaflets on dengue prevention to local residents.
Pabna Deputy Commissioner Aminul Islam and Municipal Administrator Khairul Islam led the event also joined by senior administration officials, local community leaders and a scout team from Square School and College.
Addressing the gathering, officials stressed that administrative actions alone cannot stop dengue. They urged residents to take personal responsibility for maintaining clean surroundings and ensuring water does not collect in or around their homes.
"Collective community action is essential to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds" said Khairul Islam, Deputy Director of the Local Government Division. He noted that similar drives were carried out simultaneously across all municipalities and unions in Pabna’s nine upazilas to strengthen public awareness and vector control.
