To combat the rising threat of dengue and raise public awareness, a three-month-long prevention campaign has been launched in Louhajang, Munshiganj. Organized by the Upazila administration, the initiative officially began on Saturday morning at Ghourdour Padmavati Park and the local market area.

The campaign kicked off with a comprehensive cleanup drive and the distribution of awareness leaflets among residents. A discussion meeting was also held to emphasize the importance of community participation in tackling the mosquito-borne disease.

Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, Member of Parliament for Munshiganj-2 and BNP Joint Secretary General inaugurated the event as the chief guest with Louhajang Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Farzana Bobby Mitu presiding over the session.

Speaking at the event, officials and health experts stressed that medical treatment alone cannot stop dengue. They highlighted the urgent need to destroy Aedes mosquito breeding grounds by keeping homes, workplaces and surrounding environments clean. To ensure a lasting impact and boost civic awareness, the Upazila administration pledged to conduct continuous cleanup drives over the next three months.

The launch saw active participation from Upazila Health Officer Dr. Humayun Rajib, local government officials, political figures and citizens from various walks of life. This collaborative community effort aims to safeguard public health through sustained environmental hygiene and proactive mosquito control.
