Dengue Claims Another Life in Faridpur; 25 Hospitalized in 24 Hours

A 45-year-old woman has died of dengue fever while undergoing treatment at Faridpur Medical College Hospital with raising the district's death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to five this season.

The deceased, Rebecca Begum hailed from Muksudpur upazila in Gopalganj. Faridpur Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahmudul Hasan confirmed that she was admitted to the hospital on September 14 and passed away on Thursday night.

The dengue situation in the district remains a pressing concern. According to the Civil Surgeon's office, 25 new patients were admitted to various government hospitals with dengue symptoms in the past 24 hours. Currently 81 dengue patients are receiving treatment across the district. Since the beginning of the current outbreak, 520 dengue cases have been recorded in Faridpur's state-run hospitals.

Dr. Hasan stated that the district health department is strictly following government guidelines to ensure proper medical care for all patients. He noted that regular cleaning drives and public awareness campaigns are actively underway in coordination with the district administration and municipal authorities.

Urging public cooperation, the Civil Surgeon advised residents to remain highly vigilant. He emphasized the importance of eliminating stagnant water in and around homes to destroy Aedes mosquito breeding grounds, adding that collective community effort is essential to successfully contain the outbreak.
