Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the National Citizens Committee (NCC) in the northern region, has called upon the families of the martyrs and injured of the July uprising to remain independent of all political affiliations to preserve the integrity of the movement.

Speaking at a view-exchange meeting in the capital on Sunday afternoon, Sarjis emphasized that the sacrifices made during the mass uprising belong to the people, not to any specific political group.

"We do not want to see you under the banner of any party," Sarjis told the families. "Please do not compromise the spirit of this uprising for any temptation or partisan interest. The martyrs' families and the fighters must remain the guardians of the people's aspirations."

During his speech, Sarjis leveled serious allegations regarding the current political landscape, claiming an "unwritten agreement" exists between the BNP and the Awami League. He suggested that this political equation is responsible for the recent bails granted to individuals accused of attacking protesters during the July coup.

"It is a harsh reality that BNP is benefiting from the Awami League’s support base," Sarjis claimed, adding that even ousted leader Sheikh Hasina has alluded to this from abroad.

Sarjis also criticized the BNP’s recent actions, accusing the party of seeking to use the same oppressive state machinery formerly employed by the Awami League rather than reforming it.

"If the BNP thinks they can dig a grave for the opposition and walk the path of a parliamentary dictatorship, they will be the first ones to fall into that grave," he warned.

The organizer concluded by urging the public to hold even his own organization accountable. He encouraged the families to speak out against the National Citizens Committee if it ever acts against the public interest. He also expressed grave concern over reports that accused individuals out on bail are currently threatening the families of the martyrs.
