


Two counter-cases have been filed over the clash between BNP and Jamaat leaders and activists in Pabna's Ishwardi on Thursday.
Ishwardi Police Station OC A.S.M. Abdun Noor confirmed this information on Saturday night. Earlier, the two cases were registered in the afternoon.
The OC said that Badhan Hasan Alim, son of Sahapur Union Krishak Dal convener Makkel Mridha, filed the case as the plaintiff, mentioning the names of 32 Jamaat leaders. Pabna District Jamaat Ameer and Jamaat nominated candidate for Pabna-4 constituency Abu Taleb Mondal has been made the main accused in the case.
On the other hand, Ishwardi Upazila Jamaat Secretary Saidul Islam has filed the case as the plaintiff, mentioning the names of 38 BNP leaders and activists. Sahapur Union Krishak Dal convener Makkel Mridha has been made the main accused in the case.
Police said that a drive is underway to arrest the accused in the case.
On Thursday afternoon, a clash broke out between Jamaat and BNP over an election campaign by a Jamaat candidate in Char Gargari village of Ishwardi upazila.
At least fifty leaders and activists of both sides were injured in the clash. The area has been tense since the incident. Additional police have been deployed in the area. Many leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat have fled the area to avoid arrest.
