


State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed announced today that the government is actively working to create new employment opportunities for expatriate workers who have lost their jobs and returned to Bangladesh.
The State Minister made these remarks on Thursday morning (April 9) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, while handing over the body of Shah Alam, a deceased expatriate, to his grieving family.
"The government will bear all costs for transporting the body to Comilla and for the funeral services," Shama Obaid stated. "We are standing by the family, and if any further issues arise, we will provide the necessary support."
Addressing the ongoing global conflicts, the State Minister emphasized Bangladesh's stance on peace. "Bangladesh wants an immediate end to the war. We believe the resulting global crises must be resolved through diplomatic channels," she said.
Regarding Bangladeshi students currently stranded in Kyrgyzstan, the State Minister confirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in constant communication with the relevant authorities to ensure their safe return.
She also noted that the government is monitoring the situation of workers in the Middle East who are affected by regional instability. "We are analyzing visa complications and looking into the possibility of extending visa validity for those stranded, ensuring they can eventually return to their workplaces or come home safely," Obaid added.
The government has prioritized the rehabilitation of workers who were forced to return home. Shama Obaid highlighted that the current national program includes Creating new domestic job sectors for returnees. Providing financial and logistical support for those wishing to go back abroad.
Expanding the labor market to secure fresh opportunities in other countries.
