Rumin Farhana, an independent elected MP, did not take oath as a member of the Constitutional Reform Council. She took oath as a member of the parliament at the same time as the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami MPs at around 12:30 today.
But she left the venue as soon as the first oath-taking ceremony ended. BNP MP Ishraq Hossain took oath with the Jamaat MPs, but he did not take oath as a member of the Constitutional Reform Council.
It is worth noting that today only the BNP MPs took oath as members of the parliament. BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed said before the ceremony that they would not take oath as members of the Constitutional Reform Council today.
Salahuddin Ahmed, holding two forms in his hand, said, "None of us have been elected as members of the Constitutional Reform Council and this has not been enshrined in the constitution yet." If the Constitutional Reform Council is formed according to the referendum verdict, it must be enshrined in the constitution first and a provision must be made as to who will take the oath of office for the members of the Constitutional Reform Council.
However, the Jamaat MPs have taken both oaths.
