Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin said that combating artificial intelligence–driven disinformation, particularly around the new IT-supported postal voting system, is a major challenge for the Election Commission.

“This is the age of AI, and misinformation is being spread on social media. Addressing this is a big challenge for us,” he said after a meeting with technically knowledgeable representatives of political parties at the Commission on Monday.

Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud said participation by 51 political parties is a positive sign. “We hope the election will be peaceful and free from major violence. We believe it will be free, fair and acceptable,” he added.
