Trump Announces Phased Disarmament of Hamas in Gaza

US President Donald Trump has announced a breakthrough agreement for the "complete disarmament" of Hamas describing it as a monumental step toward establishing a new Palestinian government in Gaza.

Announced on Trump’s Truth Social platform the agreement outlines a phased approach where the decommissioning of Hamas's weapons will coincide with a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces. Once disarmed Gaza’s security will be managed by a new Palestinian police force supported by a multinational International Stabilization Force (ISF). Day-to-day governance will transition to a group of Palestinian technocrats known as the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG).

A diplomatic source confirmed the plan enforces a strict "one authority, one law, one weapon" policy. The roadmap mandates the elimination of all militant tunnels and weapon production facilities with both heavy and light weapons falling under NCAG control.

Senior Hamas officials confirmed progress regarding their weapons and the Israeli withdrawal. However significant hurdles remain before the plan is fully finalized. A Hamas source indicated the group is still awaiting Israel's response to proposed amendments. Meanwhile an Israeli political source stated the current proposal does not satisfactorily address their demands for complete demilitarization noting the issue wasn't even discussed in a recent meeting between Prime Minister Netanyahu and Trump.

Mediators from the United States Egypt Qatar and Turkey are scheduled to meet in Cairo soon to discuss implementing this critical second phase of Trump's 20-point peace plan.
