The debate surrounding working hours in the film industry intensified following comments by Deepika Padukone, who announced she would limit her workday to eight hours.
Her decision sparked a controversy, drawing mixed reactions on social media; some critics labeled it unprofessional, while others praised her focus on well-being.
Adding her voice to the discussion, "Dancing Queen" Madhuri Dixit shared her contrasting personal experience, despite the article's initial misstatement about her eight-hour limit. In an interview with ANI, Madhuri revealed her extreme dedication to her upcoming project, ‘Mrs. Deshpande’. She stated, "I used to work for more than twelve hours every day... I'm a very working work. I don’t understand anything but work."
While identifying herself as a "work-holic", Madhuri did not criticize Deepika's decision. Instead, she emphasized the importance of personal choice and autonomy, stating, "Perhaps I’m different. But if someone has the power that he does not want to work for a certain period of time, he can say that.
Everyone has their own life and has the right to speak for themselves.” Her comments support a colleague's right to set personal work limits, even though her own practice involves significantly longer hours.
