Voting underway in Chattogram in festive and peaceful atmosphere

Voting for the 13th National Parliament election is underway in Chattogram in a festive and peaceful atmosphere and with the spontaneous presence of voters.

Voting activities began simultaneously at all the centers of the district's 16 parliamentary constituencies from 7:30 am on Thursday (February 12). The presence of voters has been observed at various centers since the morning.

The District Election Office said that voting will continue from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm without interruption. All preparations have been made in advance to ensure the smooth exercise of the right to vote by voters.

This time, voters are voting on two separate ballot papers. White ballots are being used for the election of members of parliament and pink ballots for the referendum.

About 40,000 law enforcement officers have been deployed across Chattogram to maintain law and order during the election. Members of the army, police, RAB, BGB, Ansar and Coast Guard are on duty. In addition, mobile courts led by executive magistrates are active in the field. Additional security has been ensured at risky centers.

The total number of voters in the 16 constituencies of Chattogram in this election is 66 lakh 82 thousand 517 people. Of these, 3 lakh 86 thousand 674 people are in Chittagong-1 (Mirsarai) constituency. 4 lakh 88 thousand 465 people are in Chattogram-2 (Fatikchhari) constituency. 2 lakh 60 thousand 485 people are in Chattogram-3 (Sandwip) constituency and 4 lakh 48 thousand 380 people are in Chattogram-4 (Sitakunda) constituency. 5 lakh 1 thousand 916 people are in Chattogram-5 (Hathazari) constituency. 3 lakh 39 thousand 988 people are in Chattogram-6 (Raujan) constituency. 3 lakh 19 thousand 8 people are in Chattogram-7 (Rangunia) constituency. There are 554,729 voters in Chittagong-8 (Boalkhali) constituency. 416,363 in Chattogram-9 (Kotwali) constituency. 492,444 in Chattogram-10 (Pahartoli-Khulshi) constituency. 495,278 in Chattogram-11 (Bandar-Patenga) constituency. 352,695 in Chattogram-12 (Patia) constituency. 395,246 in Chittagong-13 (Anwara) constituency. 313,513 in Chattogram-14 (Chandanaish) constituency. 565,599 in Chattogram-15 (Satkania) constituency. 411,274 in Chattogram-16 (Baanshkhali) constituency.

Deputy Commissioner Zahidul Islam Miah said that the administration is on the highest alert to ensure that voters cast their votes in a safe and fear-free environment. He expressed hope that a peaceful and acceptable election would be held in Chattogram through the spontaneous participation of voters.
