The government has raised the retail prices of octane, petrol, and kerosene by Tk 5 per litre for the month of June, citing price fluctuations in the international market. Retail prices for diesel remain unchanged.
According to a gazette notification issued by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division on Sunday, the new automated pricing rates came into effect today, June 1.
Under the updated pricing structure:
Octane: Increased to Tk 145 per litre (up from Tk 140 in May)
Petrol: Increased to Tk 140 per litre (up from Tk 135 in May)
Kerosene: Increased to Tk 135 per litre (up from Tk 130 in May)
Diesel: Remains steady at Tk 115 per litre
The ministry stated that the adjustments comply with the country's monthly automatic fuel pricing mechanism, which evaluates international market trends, import costs, tax structures, and currency exchange rates. Domestic fuel prices previously hit record highs following structural changes on April 18, before being held flat through May.
The gazette also outlined the baseline ex-refinery prices—set at Tk 104.70 for diesel, Tk 124.73 for kerosene, Tk 131.16 for octane, and Tk 126.38 for petrol—with the final retail cap calculated by factoring in VAT, outstanding import duties, marketing margins, transport costs, and dealer commissions.
