


A 27-year-old garment worker Nasima Akhter was allegedly hacked to death by her husband early Sunday during a domestic dispute in the Gargaria Master Bari area of Sreepur municipality, Gazipur.The suspect Saidul Islam fled the scene immediately after the incident.
According to Inspector Sanjay Saha of the Sreepur Police Station the murder occurred around 3:30 am at the couple's rented house. Police believe the killing was the tragic culmination of ongoing family unrest.
Nasima’s brother Masum Ahmed, explained that the couple's marriage deteriorated recently after Saidul became involved with drugs. Despite the frequent arguments, Nasima endured the abuse for the sake of their two children. Neighbors alerted Masum in the early hours of Sunday, and he rushed over to find his sister on the floor with severe bleeding from stab wounds.
With the help of locals, Nasima was rushed to the Sreepur Upazila Health Complex. Dr. Shafiqul Islam, the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, confirmed she was brought in dead, noting multiple sharp weapon injuries on her body. Hospital authorities immediately notified the police.
Nasima originally hailed from Kailshapur Banpara village in Netrokona's Purbadhala upazila. Police have inspected the crime scene and launched a manhunt to apprehend the absconding husband. The victim's body has been recovered, and the filing of a formal murder case is underway.
