Journalist and social worker Abul Kashem has been unanimously elected as the President of the School Management Committee (SMC) for Uttar Fatekharkul Government Primary School in Ramu Upazila.
Kashem was selected for a three-year term during a general meeting on Sunday, June 21. His appointment has been welcomed by teachers, parents, and local education advocates, who hope the new leadership will drive infrastructural development and academic progress at the traditional institution.
Following his election, Kashem outlined his priorities for the school, emphasizing holistic learning and strict administrative integrity.
"My main goal is to go beyond limited textbook knowledge and foster the intellectual and psychological development of our students," Kashem said in his initial reaction. "We will ensure a strict standard of institutional transparency, accountability, and quality education."
Kashem noted that community collaboration will be essential to his strategy. "With the combined efforts of parents and teachers, we are determined to transform this institution into a model for the upazila. Our ultimate aim is to build a generation capable of facing 21st-century challenges by integrating modern technology with moral education."
Local residents and civil society members have expressed optimism regarding the committee's new direction, anticipating a renewed focus on student welfare and academic excellence under Kashem's tenure.
