


Residents of Lohagara Municipality formed an hour-long human chain on Sunday morning, demanding urgent improvements to local civic services, including waste management, road repairs, and a modernized drainage system.
Held in front of the municipal building at 11:00 am, the peaceful protest drew people from various professions. Participants called for the realization of their basic rights as taxpayers, specifically demanding the repair of dilapidated streetlights and the eviction of illegal encroachers from market sidewalks.
Several local political and community leaders addressed the gathering. Key speakers included Jamaat-e-Islami District Working Council member Jamirul Haque Tutul, former District Krishak Dal member secretary Enamul Kabir Chandan, Municipal BNP Organizing Secretary SA Saifullah Mamun, and Upazila Jubo Dal Vice President Shafiq Tarek. Businessmen and social workers, including Maulana Shafayet Hussain, Mazharul Shuvro, BM Liaquat Hossain, Engineer Shafiul Alam Masum, and Shahin Ahmed, also spoke.
Following the program, a delegation led by Jamirul Haque Tutul submitted a memorandum outlining their demands to the Municipal Administrator's office. Municipal Treasurer Ujjwal Kanti Sarkar formally received the document on behalf of the administrator.
