Police on Friday recovered the body of an unidentified young man from a roadside garbage dump in the MC Bazar area of Sreepur Upazila, under Gazipur district.
The bullet-headed or injured body was spotted around 7:00 AM by local residents in a pile of waste directly in front of the Adib Dyeing Factory on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway. Sensing foul play, locals immediately alerted the law enforcement authorities.
A team from the Maona Highway Police Station rushed to the scene, secured the area, and prepared the initial inquest report. Based on preliminary physical evidence, investigators strongly suspect that the youth was murdered elsewhere before his body was driven to the highway and dumped in the trash under the cover of night.
Maona Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamruzzaman confirmed the recovery and noted that the victim bore visible, severe injury marks on his head.
"We have recovered the body and dispatched it to the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination. Law enforcement agencies are actively working to establish the victim's identity and formal legal proceedings will be initiated as soon as the medical report is finalized," the OC stated.
