Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has declared that the government will take uncompromising action to dismantle the sanctuaries of criminal groups who dare to challenge state authority by attacking law enforcement forces.
The Home Minister made the remarks during a press briefing at the Chattogram Circuit House on Sunday afternoon, following a high-level security meeting.
"We will track down and eliminate the very last hideout of those threatening state security," Ahmed said, emphasizing that the rule of law must be established effectively to meet public expectations. "No matter who is sheltering these criminals, they will be identified and brought to justice."
Highlighting recent security operations in the region, the minister disclosed that a massive joint force consisting of around 4,000 personnel—including the Police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the Military, supported by aviation units—has been actively deployed. He reiterated that the state's absolute priority remains restoring public peace and stabilizing local law and order.
Beyond immediate law enforcement operations, the high-level meeting mapped out long-term security and administrative strategies for Jangal Salimpur, Alinagar, and adjacent territories. The plans include upgrading local road networks, constructing dedicated government installations, and evaluating a prospective site for a new prison facility.
Addressing widespread local anxieties regarding these structural shifts, the Home Minister explicitly assured residents that the state would not conduct arbitrary mass evictions, promising that proper rehabilitation measures will be extended to those genuinely displaced by development.
The briefing was attended by prominent state officials, including State Minister for Land and Hill Tracts Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain, and senior heads of the police, BGB, and prison directorates.
