


A joint operation in Chattogram and Feni recovered 12 acres of government land, seized 48,500 litres of furnace oil, and imposed fines totaling Tk 466,000.
The drive was conducted on Sunday (April 12) by RAB-7, with support from executive and judicial magistrates, the Army, BGB, Police, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation, and BSTI.
According to RAB-7, the was launched based on intelligence reports that some traders were illegally stockpiling edible oil, octane, diesel, and furnace oil to create artificial shortages. Authorities also found evidence of unhygienic food production, use of unapproved measuring devices, and illegal occupation of government land and footpaths.
During the operation, several were fined Tk 127,000 for expired licences, poor storage conditions, and overpricing of fuel. Another Tk 285,000 was imposed for producing adulterated products and using fake certification seals.
In a separate eviction drive, authorities fined Tk 54,000, cleared nine illegal shops, and recovered 12 acres of encroached land.
Additionally, 48,500 litres of furnace oil were seized from an establishment for importing, storing, and processing crude fuel without a valid licence.
RAB-7 Assistant Superintendent of Police and Assistant Director (Media), A.R.M. Mozaffar Hossain, said the fines collected through mobile courts have been deposited in the government treasury. He added that such operations will continue to ensure market discipline.
