The victims of a tragic train accident in Kalihati Upazila have been laid to rest in their village homes in Sadullapur Upazila.

The deceased—Nargis Begum and her children Nirab, Ripa, Sultan Mahmud and Dola Begum—were buried in family graveyards in Nijpara and Chhatragachha villages under Dhapherhat union on Saturday.

Their funeral prayers were held in stages after Zuhr, attended by grieving relatives and local residents. The burials took place amid deep sorrow, as emotional scenes unfolded across the areas.

The five family members were killed in a train accident on Friday night in Kalihati. Their bodies were brought back home on Saturday morning, triggering widespread mourning in the community.

Family members and neighbours described the victims as hardworking individuals who had been living in Dhaka and working in the garment sector to support their family.

The incident has left the villagers in shock, with residents calling for improved railway safety measures to prevent such tragedies.
