A mobile court has sentenced six people to one month in prison each for illegal soil cutting and transportation in Gazipur. A drum truck used to transport the soil was also seized during the drive.

The operation was conducted for three consecutive nights in the Kaultia and Pirujali areas near Factory Bazar in Gazipur Sadar Upazila, under the initiative of the Gazipur District Administration.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Moin Khan Ellis led the mobile court.

During the drive, six people were arrested for violating the Balu Mahal and Soil Management Act, 2010. The mobile court later sentenced each of them to one month in prison. A drum truck involved in transporting illegally cut soil was also seized from the spot.

According to the district administration, illegal soil cutting causes serious environmental damage and poses risks to agricultural land and infrastructure.

Authorities said surveillance and mobile court operations will continue regularly to prevent such illegal activities.

Md. Badruzzaman served as the bench assistant during the operation, while members of law enforcement agencies assisted the drive.
