Workshop Worker Killed by Microbus on Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway

An 18-year-old workshop worker was killed after being struck by a microbus while crossing the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Gazipur on Thursday morning.

The victim, identified as Md. Simon, was the son of Momin Mia from Chandpur district. The family lived in a rented house in the Bhogra area. Simon was an employee at Sumi Engineering Workshop in Basan Road.

According to Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Sanwar Hossain of Basan Police Station, the accident occurred around 9:00 am. Simon was crossing the highway from west to east on his way to work when a Mymensingh-bound Hiace microbus hit him. The vehicle fled the scene immediately after the impact.

Local residents rescued the critically injured teenager and rushed him to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital, where attending doctors declared him dead on arrival.
