Doctor killed in Gazipur pickup van collision

A physician was killed after a pickup van struck his scooter in the Bagharpara area of Kaliganj, Gazipur, on Monday evening.

The deceased, 38-year-old Dr. Mishuk Bhattacharya, was the son of the late Pintu Bhattacharya from Lohagara, Chattogram. He resided in the Bashundhara Residential Area of Dhaka and practiced at a private diagnostic center in Palash, Narsingdi.

Witnesses said Dr. Mishuk was riding his scooter home from his workplace in Palash. At approximately 7:45 pm, a pickup van traveling from the opposite direction hit him on the Kaliganj bypass road. The impact left him critically injured.

Locals rescued him and rushed him to the Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex, where the duty doctor, Rabeya Nargis Jahan, declared him dead at 8:40 pm.

Kaliganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Zakir Hossain confirmed the incident, stating that legal proceedings regarding the accident are underway.
