A joint operation by the Bangladesh Army and Lohagara Police led to the arrest of a man and the recovery of a foreign firearm, ammunition, and drugs in Narail’s Lohagara upazila.
The raid was conducted from Saturday midnight until Sunday morning in the Itna Paschimpara area. The arrested individual, Sikder Limon (35), son of Sikder Anwar Hossain, had recently returned to Bangladesh after living in Malaysia for 11 years.
Acting on intelligence regarding illegal arms storage for potential criminal activities, the joint forces raided Limon's residence. While Limon was apprehended, his brother and alleged accomplice, Sikder Riaz, managed to flee the scene.
During a thorough search, security forces recovered a foreign 7.62 mm pistol, a magazine, and one round of live ammunition hidden behind a washbasin. Additionally, foreign liquor was found on a cornice, and several sharp domestic weapons were seized from various parts of the house. Three expired passports belonging to Limon were also confiscated.
Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Abdur Rahman stated that the operation was part of an ongoing security drive ahead of the national elections. Limon was produced before a court on Sunday afternoon and sent to jail.
