International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2025 celebrated in Islampur

Disaster Preparedness Day was observed on Monday morning with various awareness programs organized by the Upazila Administration and the Disaster Management Department.

Marking the day, a colorful rally was brought out from the premises of the Upazila Administration Office at 11 AM, which paraded through various streets of the town, drawing attention to disaster awareness and preparedness.

Following the rally, a fire safety drill was conducted, during which Fire Service personnel demonstrated rescue techniques and shared practical knowledge on how to protect lives during emergencies. The demonstration was attended by students and local residents.

The event was conducted by Project Implementation Officer Noor-e-Shefa, with speeches delivered by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Touhidur Rahman, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rejwan Iftekhar, President of Islampur Bazar Business Association Awal Khan Lohani, President of Islampur Press Club Moraduzzaman, Fire Station Officer Majharul Islam, and Sub-Assistant Engineer Md. Abu Taher Molla.

Students from various educational institutions also actively participated in the program, gaining hands-on awareness about fire and disaster safety.
