Corruption in Islampur project

Allegations of irregularities and corruption have surfaced in Kabikha (Food for Work) and Kabita (Cash for Work) projects in Islampur upazila of Jamalpur. Locals claim many road development projects in Charputimari Union remain incomplete despite receiving government funds.

Over Tk 12.5 lakh and 10.24 metric tons of food grain were allocated for several rural roads, but on-site visits show little progress. Residents blamed poor supervision by the Project Implementation Office (PIO) and misuse of funds by local leaders.

Project president Asadullah Asha alleged that funds were withdrawn without his consent, while Union Chairman Shamsuzzaman Suruj Master denied involvement. The current PIO Nur A Shefa said, "she was not in office during the project period and had no knowledge of the matter.''
