An unidentified woman pedestrian was killed in a head-on collision between a drum truck and a pickup van on the Jamalpur-Mymensingh road on Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred in the Sharifpur Fakirbari area of Sadar upazila when a Jamalpur-bound pickup van from Mymensingh collided with a sand-laden drum truck coming from the opposite direction. The impact caused the pickup van to overturn and plunge into a roadside ditch, crushing the bystander on the spot.
Both the drivers of the pickup van and the drum truck sustained injuries during the collision.
Jamalpur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman said that upon receiving the news, police rushed to the scene, recovered the body, and sent the injured drivers to Jamalpur General Hospital for treatment.
The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has been contacted to help identify the deceased woman, the OC added.
