A complaint has been filed against Khanmarich Union Parishad Chairman Monowar Hossain Khan Mithu for not paying the contractor's due bill after working on a project in Bhangura Upazila of Pabna.

The aggrieved contractor and locals formed a human chain on Friday (November 28) afternoon demanding payment of the bill.

Contractor Masud Rana Apel said in the human chain that after receiving the allocation for various rural road renovation and dirt road construction projects of the union, UP Chairman Mithu gave him the responsibility of implementing the work. It is alleged that even after Apel completed the work, he contacted the chairman many times to collect the bill, but he did not pay the bill for almost two years, assuring that he would "give, give". The contractor fell into financial crisis after not receiving a fair bill. He is in trouble while paying the bills of the workers due to loans. For this reason, contractor Apel formed a human chain along with the locals demanding payment of the bill.

Contractors Masud Rana Apel, Zahid Hasan, Ashikur Rahman and other locals spoke at the human chain. They said that if the contractor does not get the due bill despite working hard, then people's trust in development work will be lost. Such irregularities are unacceptable. They demanded a quick investigation and payment of the contractor's dues.

In this regard, UP Chairman Monowar Hossain Khan Mithu denied the allegations and said, "I did not give him any project work. I only heard that the former MP's son asked him to work. After the change of government, now he is pressuring me for the bill. Where I did not give the project, there is no question of giving the bill."
