FIFA Controversy World Cup on Trump Intervention Storm

FIFA has sparked global outrage by suspending U.S. striker Folarin Balogun's one-match red-card ban to making him eligible for Monday's World Cup Round of 16 clash against Belgium.

The decision followed a personal phone call from U.S. President Donald Trump to FIFA President Gianni Infantino urging a review of the case. Balogun was sent off during the USA’s 2-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina after a VAR review caught him stamping on defender Tarik Muharemovic.
